Extended MetaMeditation

Extended MetaMeditation was commissioned by the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton. It is also my WSA graduation project and is currently in process.

Meditation is a prevalent form of therapy favoured by modern people. It is usually a passive reception of sound, meditating, and remaining still with eyes closed. I was Inspired by the Himalaya bowl, each with a unique texture and sound frequency. I hope users use their bodies as musical instruments and integrate themselves into meditation.

So what if there is an expanded meditation beyond physical reality and stillness?

This multimodel-interactive meditation system explores the human body as a sound performance. It uses a wearable technology glove and musical interaction with virtual reality to challenge the experience. The ecosystem blurs the boundary between active and passive and fosters a participatory approach to individual music rhythmic movement and collective meditation experiences. Users are both the experiencers and the performers. They will explore themselves and enhance the multi-sensory experience.
